Best beginner acoustic guitar choices - so many - how do you choose?

Can the right choice make the difference between success and giving up in frustration for a new player?

Choosing the best beginner acoustic guitar can make or break a successful experience learning to play guitar. Guitars are like anything else - quality counts.

It seems like most of the advice that I have come across from most sources recommend that someone learning how to play guitar start with an inexpensive acoustic beginner guitar.

That can be alright (sometimes) but an instrument that's too cheap might be a piece of junk that's very hard to play or is impossible to setup right - in other words, a complete waste of money..

Usually, it's because most people don't know any better and will try a few guitar lessons with a cheap guitar, decide it's too much work and give up.While having a good guitar could keep them enthusiastic about their new adventure.

If most learners started with a quality instrument, not as many of them would give up from pure frustration.

When I was a kid my first was a particle board Roy Rogers guitar.

It did not sound all that great and regardless of the collector value today, at the time it was a major discouragement because it just didn't sound good and being a kid, I thought it was pretty cheesy.

Guitar practice motivation

is important to keep at a peak for any guitar student and a beginners guitar should inspire a person to learn how to play. Just by the fact that it sounds so great all by itself, is easy to fret and doesn't hurt fingers by having to press so hard or is cutting into the fingers because of sharp frets.

Another choice that can inspire someone to greatness is buying a guitar that is best for the type of music the beginner wants to play. (here's a page on buying electric guitars) and an electric guitar amp.

Acoustic beginner guitar choices do not have to be expensive to sound good.

Do you have to spend a ton of money to buy a guitar that sounds great?

It can help, but it's not necessary. Some well-established companies such as Yamaha put out some great beginner guitars.

There are some very reasonably priced acoustic beginner guitars that are quality products and sound great.

So What should you look for in a beginner guitar?the same things you should look for in any acoustic guitar. It should be the right size for the person using it, fit comfortably in their hands, sound great and it should be easy to fret chords and notes on. A guitar that is easy to tune and stays in tune is very important.

Here's what my research has also uncovered.

Acoustic beginner guitar

  1. Solid wood top - A acoustic guitar with a Solid wood top produces better sound. They vibrate more freely and naturally.
  2. X bracing - Designed to strengthen the guitar without stopping the natural resonance. This produces the best sound quality and volume in an acoustic beginner guitar.
  3. Properly dressed frets that are even, no sharp ends and no buzzing. This can be very expensive to fix! If you get this right it could save you $200 for a fret level, crown, and polish job. Benefits?- no cut fingers - no frustration from buzzing.
  4. A strong stable neck - prevents a myriad of problems and expensive repairs caused by warped necks.Neck repairs are one of the most expensive mistakes a person can make when buying a guitar.
  5. Good quality tuners - A quality guitar is easy to tune and reduces the frustration a beginner has with tuning. Tuning is one of a beginners biggest frustrations. Tuners should be smooth, accurate and hold the string stable.
  6. The guitar should be sized right for the learner - This makes it easier to hold and play the guitar with confidence.
  7. A manufacturers warranty - Peace of mind in case of future problems identified later.
  8. Covered by a guarantee of satisfaction or money back - I suggest having any new guitar checked out by a guitar tech. Make sure the guitar tech is thorough and checks for neck truss problems. Neck set angles, properly cut nut and fret problems

Best Beginner Acoustic Guitar - Suggestions

Here're some suggestions on guitars that I feel would make great beginner guitars......

Great choices for your best beginner acoustic guitar would be.

Yamaha FG700S Folk Acoustic Guitar - Sound wise this guitar fascinated me.

I really wondered how an acoustic guitar that was priced so low, could sound so good. Solid spruce top with scalloped braces. Fretwork is really good on these and the whole guitar just feels good to me. Tuners are good quality. This is a great choice for the Best beginner acoustic guitar for you.

The whole line of Yamaha acoustic guitars is hard to go wrong on. A great choice for your best beginner acoustic guitar Martin little guitar - This guitar would be a good choice in child size acoustic beginner guitars or a person that is more comfortable with a small guitar. Made of tough HPL wood fiber laminate and a tough bonded neck. It is a surprisingly good sounding guitar. You're looking for the Best beginner acoustic guitar and I would not hesitate to put this one in that category.

This guitar does not have a solid wood top, but the people at Martin guitars know what they are doing and it is a great little guitar. They are about $300 at the time of this writing.

Epiphone AJ - 200 s and the Epiphone DR- 200 s - These are selling for around $200 right now. One of my objectives is to steer my readers towards the best beginner acoustic guitar that a person taking guitar lessons wouldn't feel needs replacement just because they are not a beginner anymore. This guitar is just such a guitar.

Solid spruce top guitars with great sound and projection, good fretwork, and sturdy bodies.

Always remember with any guitar its best to spend a little bit of money to get the guitar set up properly and inspected to make sure everything is right. Please believe me it makes learning the guitar so much easier.

I have 12 guitars and counting. I think maybe 2 or 3 of them did not really have to be set up. Even the Best beginner acoustic guitar needs to be setup for an individual to be right for him or her.

I believe some of the best advice I can give to a beginning guitarist is to first find a the best beginner acoustic guitar for you and then a great basic guitar course. And keep at it no matter how hard it seems at first. The breakthroughs will come with persistence.

Buy the best beginner acoustic guitar you can find. Get a good basic guitar course, there are many good guitar lesson packages online online ( I will be reviewing some of them, so check back often), master it and it will give you a foundation for progress, follow it up with your area of specialization, be it Rock, Metal, Country, Rockabilly, Jazz or a combination of them all.

Extraordinary guitarists are ordinary people that put in the extra.
